How do the people who say Capaldi had bad writing sleep at night? The monsters!!

I honestly think Jodie might not have got such a hard time if she didn't follow all of this peak! Scrap that, she was bound to get a hard time, because we live in such an awful world. But my point still stands. This was a bloody tough act to follow.

So what are my rankings for series 10 of Doctor Who? How did I order the stories involving my favourite TARDIS team? A lot of the time there is a standout episode or two in each series that is guaranteed top spot, but in this series I think there was a lot of very good stuff.

Let's go!

I can't help feeling this one was hurt by being straight after Empress of Mars. Both of these episodes felt more like those mid series fillers. That isn't slating them, as there was lots to enjoy in both, but something has to come at the (very fast) bottom.

This episode got me thinking a lot, and that is never a bad thing, even though all I was thinking about was bad things. The British Empire sucks dick and no wonder nobody likes us. I know there was some fan stuff chucked in, but this went over my head so I am afraid that doesn't add to the episode unlike a certain appearance of someone a couple of episodes later.

I will never get over why they felt the need for Bill to shoot the Doctor, it just felt very, very, very out of character. This may be let down by another love saves the day ending as well. Not that it is a horrendous way to wrap a story up, but it happens a lot.

It was also eerily realistic as to what is going on in various countries right now, and that scared me even more than the actual Monks themselves. Trump going off racist vibes to get into power, any other dictator, the rise of Reform here in the UK. Vibes and lies are the order of the day, and the scariest part is thick fuckers lap it up!

It wasn't bad, but I do think Capaldi shines in a full series when he has a companion to bounce off. He is brilliant of course, but I prefer the dynamic. I was also reminded about how shit the world has become watching this.

This felt like such a change after series 9 and all of its two parters. I enjoyed it. The threat wasn't great, and the first half was better than the second half. It went downhill the second the humans woke up. I was enjoying watching the Doctor and Bill on their first real adventure before then.

In the context of the series this felt weirder. Bill just randomly upping sticks and going to live in a blatantly spooky house with a blatantly odd landlord with a bunch of students. Very random. It was a fun episode though, it was creepy and David Suchet did a great job.

In my older age I am starting to enjoy episodes that say something more. So I loved the Doctor punching a posh, entitled, racist cunt in the chops. This was giving a lot of The Beast Below vibes though, so it felt a little familiar.

I don't think this one gets much love, but I really liked it. For starters we get to meet Bill, and Bill really is one of my top companions. We also have the mystery of the vault. Add to that a pretty creepy monster at times and this is a winner. I will never, ever look down a plug hole again for the rest of my life.

Token cool Dalek moment as well!

This was such a shift from Extremis, but I thought it was different in all the right ways. I enjoyed watching the story unfold of the mistakes and little incidents that could shape the end of humanity. The Monks are creepy as fuck and the ending was really exciting.

The First Doctor and his comments wear a little thin, but this is a sweet send off for the Twelfth Doctor. Yes, I think The Doctor Falls may have been a better point to end things, but it is what it is. The Doctor of war scene was cool, Murray Gold was on fine form, and I got to say a final farewell to my favourite Doctor.

In another series I would have this even higher. Another episode that says a lot. An episode that will never age. I actually think it ages even better now. The greed we are seeing in this world is off the charts now, and maybe it won't be long before we are paying for Oxygen. I pay Thames Water to pump my shit into rivers and the ocean, so what's the difference, eh?

Why the hell did the BBC give away John Simm returning? That is absolutely nuts! I guess they were trying to pick up some extra viewers but come on, show some faith in your silly little blue box show please!

With that said, it was still a thrill.

This was fucking epic. The Doctor being blind, the Pope and the Vatican, the Monks are creepy as buggery, the fact they are in a simulation, Nardole getting more time, yes, yes, yes!

Extra points for the Doctor calling the best person in the Universe to help out - himself!

This has to be up there as one of the best finales in all of Who. Again, this is another Moffat finale with no huge invasion of Earth, just the Doctor and his gang saving a few farmers.

The direction is amazing, and every scene with Bill as Bill and a Cyberman is so well done. Looking in the mirror, at her shadow, people backing away...

I think this episode has Capaldi's best speech, and the response to it, of both the Master and Missy, is brilliant.

I will never quite understand why Bill just fucked off and left the Doctor at the end, but maybe I missed something with that. It didn't take away my enjoyment of it all though, as I kind of dug Heather coming back.

This is one of the rare times where I rank the second part of a finale higher than the first part I have just realised. So bravo, Steven Moffat.

Do you agree with these rankings? Have I got it completely wrong? Let me know in the comments below.
